Website now served by Krystal Hosting
After six years with TSOhost, problems were beginning to emerge with the stability of databases. At first they did not extend as far as the COL website, but the risk was growing with time in case submitting monthly records became impossible. Because of this I took the decision to move our site to Kr...

Re: Winter rain trend
The trend in North Staffordshire is much the same for the period from 1985, but if I include my earlier records from 1977 it is less impressive. In this area there was quite a decline in rainfall from 1977 to 1984.

Re: Autumn temperature trend
Agreed - there does not seem to have been much increase since 2001, but placed in the long term, the trend is still very definitely upward, at least in Newcastle-under-Lyme, North Staffordshire.

Re: Absolute Drought?
No absolute drought in North Staffordshire, but he autumn as been dry. Despite this it looks as though the annual total will just exceed the long term normal, as the 7 of the first 8 months of the year had above average rainfall.

After an afternoon of sunny intervals an increasingly squally showers of hail, sleet and snow, a thunderstorm occurred between 1645 and 1705 GMT on Tuesday 26th April 2016, right over the COL station, with some very bright lightning, low over the house, and torrential soft hail, then snow. Some of t...

Grass Minimum Dates Bug - December 2015 Monthly Data
With the help of members emails I discovered a bug in the monthly data submission system that prevented dates for grass minimum temperature being sent up to the server. This has now been corrected but members will need to update their December 2015 record and insert the the grass minimum date/s.

I discovered another bug in the system today (5th January 2016) - the dates for lowest grass minimum were not reaching the database when monthly data was submitted. This has now been corrected, but all members who have already submitted December's data will need to update their data and enter grass...
