Re: Early May 2016 - Missing the rains

I too seem to be missing all the rainfall. Only had 3.5mm to date, with the wettest day seeing 1.7mm in the gauge. My driest May is 4.4mm back in 2010 (records for the area back to 1964). So my driest May so far, after a wet start to the year with previous months all been above average for this stat...

Re: Warmest day so far.

Unlike the rest of the country, today has been quite cool here on the Yorkshire coast.
A screen maximum of 14.9c was the best we could do, a moderate easterly breeze coming off the sea helped to keep the maximum down.

Nice in the sun and out of the wind.

Warmest day so far.

Warmest day of the year so far with a screen maximum of 19.2c. A moderate South east breeze kept it pegged back a bit.

Just over a week ago I had snow falling at this station.

Re: 28th April 2016 - Very, very late air frost

Same here, a screen minimum of -1.4c this morning, my latest air frost for at least a decade (have to check for the exact dates). Freezing fog this morning that lifted around 0730 UTC.

My latest ground frost is May 8th, so let's see if that 'record' falls.

First snow of the season

I say snow, it's mainly sleet and sqaully rain, nothing is going to lay.

Also my 16th consecutive rain day with the monthly total standing at 46.1mm up to 0900 UTC.

Last dry day was 29th December 2015, the garden is sopping wet.

Re: December 2015 - Windiest Month

December does seem to be windier that previous months.

My morning observations log the wind at around 0900Z and nearly every morning the wind has been in excess of 25 mph on 22 days.

I have recorded 14 days with Gales this year, although 2013 saw 17 Gale days.

Re: A mild December

Still mild up here too. I was out observing with the scope last night in just a fleece and slippers on.
Out for around four hours and only felt chilly. Very dewy though, so I did get damp.

11.8c currently, with a screen maximum of 12.c.
