The Declining Summer of 2017

The weather seems to have been in terminal decline since the 20th July. On this dat...

Re: July 2017 - A warm 1st half

Len, in the end the 2nd half was a bit cooler than the first half but not hugely so due to quite a few warm days. Sunshine struggled though and it was rather wetter. July 17th - 31st; (1st - 17th) Mean minimum = 12.9°C (13.2°C) Mean maximum = 22.0°C (23.9°C) Mean = 17.4°C (18.6°C) Rain = 48.8 mm (16...

Re: July 2017 - A warm 1st half

Yes Len, things have turned cooler since the 16th with 3 cool days in a row (21st (17.8°C), 22nd (17.0°C) & 23rd (19.7°C) but other than that there has still been some good summer warmth with all other days >21°C and 4 days >25°C. 17th - 27th July: Mean minimum = 12.9°C Mean maximum = 22.5°C Mean = ...

July 2017 - A warm 1st half

A predominately dry (apart from one day) and warm first half of July, with slightly above average sunshine: 1st - 16th Mean minimum = 13.2°C Mean maximum = 23.9°C Mean = 18.6°C Rain = 17.4 mm Sunshine = 120.7 hours The only day where the temperature failed to reach >22.0°C was the 11th (the day when...

1000+ hours of sunshine passed for 2017

Today passed the 1000 hours mark of sunshine for 2017. A little later than normal. And yesterday passed the 100 hours total sunshine for this July. Previous 1000 hours of sunshine ‘passing’ points: 2014 = 3rd July 2015 = 25th June 2016 = 12th July Whether this year will end up with +2000 hours of su...

Re: July - A Glorious Change in the Weather

Greg, I've just uploaded the data for yesterday and checked. The sea breeze here always blows from the SSE or S and yesterday it tried but didn't quite make it. Looking at the wind direction and speed, it was NW and generally between 3 and 10 mph but occasionally there would be a lull (0 to 2 mph) a...

Re: Finally - rain!

No rain here. I mowed the hay today. I wouldn't call it grass anymore as it is going brown from drought and sun scorch. In the end the rains came! :D The month went from being almost drought stricken to 'slightly' soggy within two days. The June total ended up at 73.6 mm which is in the wet 'catego...

Re: Finally - rain!

No rain here. I mowed the hay today. I wouldn't call it grass anymore as it is going brown from drought and sun scorch. No rain of any significance since the 5th June and hoping for some this coming week though I don't think it will amount to much here, and then back to the generally dry regime that...

Re: Warmest June Day

Thursday 22nd June: Maximum = 21.0°C Minimum = 16.9°C Maximum DP = 15.4°C A bit of a shock to the system walking out of the house this morning with a 6°C drop in temperature at 09:00 and a substantial reduction in humidity after the 30°C temperatures and +20°C DPs of the 5 or so days. I was quite ge...
