Daily Weather Reports on-line

... I'm not sure I've seen this advertised at all so a 'heads-up' in case others aren't aware. British Rainfall has been online for a couple of years at this link . . . http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/library/archive-hidden-treasures/british-rainfall but in an email exchange with Bob Prichard, ...

Re: A wet January

... up to 28/0900Z, our total = 167 mm (~194% of eLTA 1981-2010) Nearby Hurn, up to 28/1800Z = 179 mm, already placing this January as second-wettest such-named month in their 1957+ record. With at least another 10 mm (probably more) to come in the next couple of days, the total looks set to approac...

Re: Increasing annual rainfall

In Penzance, mean rainfall:- 1961-1990 1140.0mm 1971-2000 1189.3mm 1981-2010 1219.6mm 2010-2015 1245.1mm So there seems to have been an gradual upward trend for the last 50 years! ... Using Hurn data (ex. MetO web site) for the periods Graham quotes above: 1961-1990 790.1 mm 1971-2000 812.4 mm 1981...

Re: A mild December

... as now well-known, we've finished with December 2015 being notably (dramatically?) mild; the CET (350+ years record - early years/decades low resolution) looks to be 9.8degC (data to 30 DEC), which breaches the previous joint-record years' [1934 & 1974] value of 8.1degC by a large margin. Usuall...

Re: 1000mm in a month?

It looks like Capel Curig could manage that. 752mm so far http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/sumr.jpg Does anyone know what the highest reliably recorded monthly rainfall in the UK is? Graham Penzance ... I used to keep up with these but had to give up this time last year: BUT, I have a record as...

Re: A mild December

The "Telegraph" today is already speculating on the "warmest December for 350 years" (presumably referring to the CET estimated record going back to c1650). Probably a bit early for that, but it may well be the case, given that the charts don't show any significant cold weather for the next 10 days...

Re: Where to locate temperature sensor

I'm also after a log book to write down all my measurements from my manual instruments, rainfall, min/max temp, humidity, cloud type etc, i have not found one yet, do you or anyone know where to get one from. I know I could copy these to a computer but I do like a hard copy. ... I use [and have don...

Re: December 2015 - 'Warm & Dry'

... half-way through the month: 24hr mean temperature here = 11.3degC, which is +5.8C on the eLTA 1981-2010. No long-term records for my site to set this against: we only started here in 2007, but at nearby Hurn (circa 3.5 mi / 5.5 km to the SE of us), the latest mean (using SYNOP data) = 11.2, whic...
