Re: Snow??

Yesterday (13th), saw overnight snowfall starting around 0300UTC, and leaving a light dusting by 0600UTC. From 0700UTC the snow became heavy, and around 1inch thick in the space of half hour. By 0900UTC a quick thaw set in and nothing remained by noon. I recorded 3·3mm in the gauge due to meltwater....

Re: 27th December 2016 - High Air Pressure

The air pressure maximum reached 1044·2 mb at 0215 UTC on 28th December, which is the highest of the year, the highest pressure for December since 2003, and the second highest in station records. It gave unbroken sun for most of the week and calm windless days, and superb crystal clear skies for ast...

I also had a warm overnight minimum this morning (7th), with a screen minimum of 18·9c it was my second warmest night (00:00-2400) since July 2006 when I had 19·0c on that occasion.

Re: August 2016 - Another dry one?

August turned out not as dry as I first thought. After a dry three weeks I had a number of days of rain days which brought the total up to just below average.

Monthly Total: 55.7mm

24hr Maximum: 13.1mm -- Day 27

Rain Days >0.2mm: 14

Wet Days >1.0mm: 9

Re: August 2016 - Another dry one?

A dry August so far with only 8.0mm in the gauge to date. My wettest day was 4.8mm on the 11th. My mean for August is 59.3mm (1964-2016), so I'm -51.3mm down on the average so far. The driest August for this area occurred in 1976 with only 14.0mm for the entire month, I'm sure it'll rain before mont...

Re: Early June 2016 - Missing the Storms

Same here, missing all the rain, Sun and storms. Only 2.3mm for the month so far up to 1800Z on the 9th. Warmest day saw the mercury reach 20.2c. But it's been mainly overcast with a cold north-north easterly blowing off the sea for the last few weeks. So no rain, no thunderstorms and no real warm s...

Re: Early May 2016 - Missing the rains

Still a dry month for this station, with only 11.2mm to 2100 UTC on the 20th.

My average for May is 53.9mm (1964-2016), so well below average so far.
