Warmest June Day

Today I recorded a maximum of 29.9°C making it the warmest June day in my record going back to 2005. The previous warmest June day was 28.8°C on the 26th June 2010.

Hot days are rare here as the sea breeze normally comes to the rescue but today was an exception. The heat and humidity rose and peaked at 14:30 when the dew point reached 21.0°C, another record for June.

With unbroken sunshine and calm conditions if felt rather 'sticky' this afternoon and this evening feels every bit as oppressive as the temperature isn't cooling off that much (as it usually does). With it well over 30°C in the house, methinks a night's sleep in the hammock in the garden is in order.

Yep, warmest June day here too since my records began in 2004 - by a smidge (technical term, that). My previous June high was 31.1 in 2005. Today (June 19th 2017) it was 31.6 at 15:40.

Today (20th June) was even warmer and was the warmest of any day I have recorded since setting up the weather station in My 2005.

20th June:
Minimum = 14.9°C (04:44)
Maximum = 31.1°C (14:26)
Highest DP = 21.8°C (14:26)

This was also the highest DP I have recorded beating the previous high of 21.5°C on the 5th September 2016.

A sea breeze arrived at 14:30 and saved us from what was turning out to be an uncomfortably warm and humid day.

Thursday 22nd June:
Maximum = 21.0°C
Minimum = 16.9°C
Maximum DP = 15.4°C

A bit of a shock to the system walking out of the house this morning with a 6°C drop in temperature at 09:00 and a substantial reduction in humidity after the 30°C temperatures and +20°C DPs of the 5 or so days.

I was quite getting used to our new lovely Mediterranean style climate.

Looking at the forecast towards the end of June and early July for horribly cool, wet and windy weather (I'm forever optimistic it is an aberration), all I can think about is heading south! Abort abort....

I still haven't got over June 2012.

My max temperature in my Stevenson screen was 29.5°C on 20th.
This was not a new record but equalled my highest June temperature of 29.5°C on 30th June 1995.
