Finally - rain!
After 15 rainless days, we finally had a shower here in Farnborough this evening. 0.5mm, so it didn't do much - still used the hose in the garden. But with that length of rainless spell and the heat (5 days >28C) it meant that unwatered grass and plants were showing drought stress. Looks like we might have some more rain and/or showers next week, so maybe the hose can have a rest!

Re: Finally - rain!
No rain here. I mowed the hay today. I wouldn't call it grass anymore as it is going brown from drought and sun scorch.
No rain of any significance since the 5th June and hoping for some this coming week though I don't think it will amount to much here, and then back to the generally dry regime that has dominated the last 12 months or so. July is usually the driest month of the year (along with September) here and if things continue it could end up a seriously dry summer.
The water butts also ran dry today, all 1000 litres of the stuff.

17 mm here in my 5 inch gauge in 24 hrs to 1800 BST.
Very persistent and still raining at 2300 BST.
The low pressure is not going anywhere fast.

The month went from being almost drought stricken to 'slightly' soggy within two days. The June total ended up at 73.6 mm which is in the wet 'category' I reckon (>150%).
