My 24 hour rainfall to 09:00 26th December was 79.6mm with another 21.6mm up to 15:00.
This is the wettest day I have ever recorded in 42 years.
December is already the wettest month ever (294.6) surpassing November 2015 (293.6)!!
Local flooding and lots of damage.

I share your concern. My December rainfall total for Elderslie just to west of Paisley in west of Scotland currently stands at 311.2mm. My rainfall record for any month is 353.8mm in December 2006 (46 year record in area). In November 2015 I recorded 319.6mm giving a Nov/Dec total of 630.8mm to date. Previously in 2006 I recorded 677.2mm for November and December. I never thought this would be broken, but there is a chance this year with more heavy rain forecast mid week.

There was flooding here in Llanfairfechan with a couple of new streams running through the garden as the hillside finally gave up trying to absorb the rainfall and started acting like a glass sheet. Fortunately the garage only shipped 3-4 cm of water, but that was enough to damage some things. Also I lost the downstairs power sockets for a couple of days until things 'dried' out.

The 36 hour total to 262100 was 114.4mm

The monthly total of 428.9mm was way more than I would ever have though possible for a month, as was the number of days with more than 25mm at 7 and a few were also near misses. There were also 52 consecutive days with measurable rain to December 27th when there was only a trace.

This trace is included in my wettest 7 days which was 26 Dec-01Jan with 159.3mm.

Thankfully now with a cyclonic set up, and so little orographic flow, rainfall amounts should be less, but at the moment any rain at all causes lying water in the garden, which up until now has been a rare occurrence.
