Hello All,
It was disappointing to hear the TV presenters talk about the 17C at Harwarden yesterday being the highest in December in Wales since 1972 as we had some discussion on here last year about the maxes in last year's very mild December.
Also my max here overnight 6/7th (which occurred at midnight) attributable to the 6th was again 17.0C (21-09 min 15.0C). That makes the 4th max of 17.0C or more in the last 3 years. After the Amateur Meteorologists Conference I got in contact with Stuart Herridge the Met Office Regional Network Manager for Wales and the Southwest, but it appears they have no interest in supplementing their daily extremes list to cover areas where there are gaps. This is a great pity as the day extremes list that just been updated by Jonathan Webb would clearly have shown them that the statement was not correct. Also indeed if they had read Bob Pritchard's December Weather Log!
I had a chat yesterday with Derek Brockway who is the presenter on BBC Wales and he told me that now the presenters on the BBC are now no longer Met Office staff then he feels freer to not follow their line. So perhaps in future I can at least get the Welsh audience to have the correct information.
Regards to all
David
