1000mm in a month?

Post by Graham Easterling » Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:18 am

It looks like Capel Curig could manage that. 752mm so far http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~brugge/sumr.jpg

Does anyone know what the highest reliably recorded monthly rainfall in the UK is?

... I used to keep up with these but had to give up this time last year: BUT, I have a record as follows . . .

"Highest monthly rainfall (known) for 'Whole British Isles' for ANY month = 1430 mm at Styhead (Cumbria) in November 2009 (ref: Weather, March, 2010, Burt & Eden)

Styhead may also hold the December record with 1153 mm in December 1980.

Stephen is a member of this forum so no doubt he can correct / update these data.

Martin.
