A wet end to December 2017

Post by Len Wood » Fri Dec 29, 2017 9:41 pm

Yesterday it passes 100 mm total for the month.
Not unusual for December here. Average since 1985 is 111 mm.

But the last few days to New Year are forecast to be very wet so the total is going to be well above average.
Such a contrast to last December when we only had 35 mm.
Max of 277 mm in 2012!

Who'd forecast rain totals for December? Or for any month for that matter.

139.7 mm total for month in the end.
118% of 30-year average.

It was a wet Christmas /New Year period, 81 mm in last 6 days of Dec.
Coastal paths are a muddy quagmire in places.
